The V-Scope Explorer
Interactive software for a world-class microscopy
experience. The Biology and Anatomy/Physiology Editions
cover all microscopy required for typical high school
and introductory college level courses. The
Butterfly Life Cycle editions address curriculum
standards for elementary school science.

An Ounce of Prevention
A curriculum for high School Science, Health and
Parenting Directed Towards the Prevention of
Birth Defects Caused by Alcohol
Click Here for a Video Overview of Curriculum
Maternal drinking is the leading known cause of
congenital mental disability. This curriculum was
developed with funding from the National Institute on
Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism and is designed to
raise awareness about Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder
and promote prevention of alcohol-induced birth defects.
The core of the lesson for health and parenting is a
short film featuring an age appropriate drama that
weaves a little humor into teaching about the serious
realities of fetal alcohol spectrum disorder. The film is
available as a stand alone DVD product.
The science program is web or DVD deliverable and uses a
multimedia approach where students learn about normal
and alcohol-altered development in fish and humans.
Students also analyze micrographic documentation of
results from a real experiment exploring effects of alcohol
on fish brain development. Key concepts of the scientific
method and data interpretation are addressed.
